The name of the person we interviewed is Kadwell Pelley. He was born in Harry's Harbour, Green Bay on August 23 , 1910; he is now 89 years of age. He moved to Main Brook on July 1, 1928, and as lived there ever since.

During the interview we asked Kadwell what some of his most memorable moments were. He said that one of those moments was when his first wife died. Kadwell married his first wife in 1943, and four years later in 1947 his wife passed away. He says it was one of the most lonely and sad times of his life, he felt as if he had no one. Not knowing then that six years later he would marry for the second time, to his present wife, Leda Pelley. Kadwell and Leda had one child together, their son Raymond, another of Kadwells most memorable moments. Kadwell did not graduate from high school; he finished school when he was in grade four. Other memorable moments was when he went to work in the woods at the age of 11, making $20.00 a month, and out of his first pay check buying a pack of cigarettes. He remembers the first camera he had was a Hawk Eye Special. The size of the pictures was 3 1/4 by 2 1/2. He bought his fist car in 1953, and he says it was the first car in Main Brook. It was a 48 Chevy; he paid $480 for it. He remembers the first television was brought to Main Brook in 1946-47. Another resident named Tom Coates, owned the television. He remembers when the road was first put out of Main Brook; it was 1959. Before then, and before buying his first car, Kadwell remembers doing a lot of travelling on dog team. He remembers that his three brothers and father were involved in World War One, but his father came back that winter.

We asked Kadwell to tell us about some of the chores which he was responsible for when he was younger. He told us that he had to wash dishes, collect wood for the home, keep fuel in the house, help carry water, feed the sheep, horses, and hunt for food. Some of his favorite pass times were gunning, salmon fishing, and trapping.

Kadwell's most treasured possession was his first car, because it was the first car in Main Brook, making it very important to him.
