Florence Decker was born on September 19th, 1931 amazingly Florence was born on a motor boat across from Sacred bay on the way to St. Anthony. Florence's parents were Rebecca Jacobs and cCharles Decker. Florence grew up in ship cove, cape onion with 2 step-brothers and 2 step-sisters as well as 3 brothers and 3 sisters. As a child Florence's responsibilities were housework, gardening, looking after the cattle, and handling the fish. Florence's favorite pastime as a child was playing Cobby and playing make believe house. While growing up Florence's most memorable moment was at Christmas when she went with her three uncles to her Nan's house and listened to them play the organ and sing Christmas carols with her cousins. And Florence's most treasured object from her past was a soap stone carving made by her father.
She was married in Noddy Bay on August 22nd, 1947 at the age of 17 to Frank Hedderson. In thier 50 years of marrige florence and frank raised 8 children(jessie, donald, thomas, edward, wanda, ricky, dwane,and sherry.) Florence adopted 1 child(jessie) and had the other 7 herself. Folrence was a fulltime mother.
When asked on how she felt on toadys new technology she said "i think new technology is okay is it's uesd the right way."
